Arrival Cairo | Meet & Assist At Cairo Airport
Welcome to Egypt, one of the world's greatest ancient civilizations. Arrive in Cairo and transfer to your hotel with the remainder of the day at leisure. Your tour will begin with an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager at approximately 6 PM
Day 2
Full Day Cairo Tour | The Pyramids & Sphinx of Giza
After breakfast, Awaken in this city of ancient wonders. Begin your discovery of the Pyramids of Giza, built during the 3rd and 4th dynasties of the Old Kingdom. Enjoy an up-close view of the Great Pyramid, built for the Pharaoh Khufu, the oldest surviving structure, named one of the "seven ancient wonders of the world." After seeing the Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, head to the magnificent Sphinx that guards the Giza plateau, amazingly carved out of one massive piece of limestone. Next, visit Papyrus the shop where you can view a quick demonstration of how the papyrus paper is made from the papyrus grass. Browse the collection of artwork on display. Leisure time this afternoon, or join the optional half day tour to Sakkara Pyramids with lunch. Visit Sakkara, site of hundreds of tombs and several pyramids. View the famous Step Pyramid of Djoser, dating from the 3rd dynasty
Day 3
Cairo | Full Day in Cairo
Spend the day at leisure to further explore this fascinating city, or join the optional Half Day Egyptian Museum with lunch*. Begin with a visit to the Egyptian Museum, which houses the world's most extensive collection of Pharaonic antiquities. Stroll through its galleries to discover ancient treasures and learn about Egypt's rich history. After lunch, tour a jewelry shop before returning to your hotel. In the afternoon, participate in the optional Half Day Citadel & Khan El Khalili Bazaar with Dinner. Begin with a visit to a jewelry shop. Browse the extensive collection of uniquely crafted gold jewelry on sale. Then make your way to the Saladin Citadel, dating from the 12th century. Built as a defense against the Crusaders, it served as the seat of the Egyptian government for 700 years. Next, head to the heart of Islamic Cairo and wander the narrow alleys of El Khalili Bazaar, Cairo's most famous souk. Here, you will find everything from gold and spices to scarabs and antiques. Have dinner at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel
Day 4
Cairo | Full Day in Cairo
Today is at leisure in Cairo, or join the optional Full Day Alexandria Tour. Discover the legendary city of Alexandria, a culturally rich seaside metropolis and Egypt's second largest city. Begin the exploration of the city founded by Alexander the Great with a visit to the Roman amphitheater, a marble theater that once seated 800 spectators. Continue to the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa; the necropolis hewn into a cliff that consists of 3 levels, dating from the 2nd century AD. View the Roman triclinium, a banquet hall to honor the dead before heading to the Royal Jewelry Museum, housed in the former palace of Princess Fatma Al-Zahra. View precious artifacts, jewels and jewelry of the Muhammad Ali Dynasty that ruled Egypt from 19th to the mid-20th century. After lunch, return to Cairo and spend your night discovering the city's vibrant nightlife
Day 5
Cairo | Full Day in Cairo
Another day at leisure to explore, or join the optional Full Day Civilization Museum & Coptic Cairo with lunch. Visit the Civilization Museum and explore the many exhibits displaying more than 50,000 artifacts from Ancient Egypt. Gain insight into the history and evolution of Egyptian civilization. Next, head into Old Cairo. This area is the original home of the Coptic Christians, one of the world's oldest Christian denominations. Here, visit the Hanging Church, that was built in the 7th century. Admire the courtyard and interior with its elaborate wooden screen, marble pulpit and icons. Proceed to Abu Serga, a 5th century. Coptic church and hear how the church was built over the site of a cave, believed to have sheltered the Holy Family during their flight into Egypt. Later, visit the Monastery and Church of St George, an early 20th century church. It is one of the few round churches ever built in Egypt
